GlazeSnap

Terms of use

Written in plain language on purpose — GlazeSnap is a small Founding Beta, and these terms are meant to be read. Last updated August 12, 2026.

What GlazeSnap is

GlazeSnap is experimental ceramic guidance, currently in a Founding Beta. It compares photographs of fired surfaces against a small, verified catalog of commercial glazes and suggests candidates worth testing. It offers starting points, not certainty.

No identification claims

GlazeSnap never claims a photograph identifies the exact original glaze. Matches are starting points for test tiles. When nothing in the catalog is similar, GlazeSnap says "no strong match" rather than forcing a recommendation.

Your responsibilities

Test every candidate on tiles before committing it to work you care about, and follow the manufacturer's guidance for application and firing. Glaze results vary with clay body, application, thickness, firing, and photography — the same product can look very different across those variables.

Food safety disclaimer

GlazeSnap does not determine food safety, toxicity, leaching, or functional suitability — ever. Nothing in a match result is a judgment about whether a glaze or a finished piece is safe for food, drink, or any functional use.

Credits and payments

Your first completed analysis is free — one credit comes with signup. 10 more credits cost $9 as a one-time purchase through Stripe; there is no subscription, and GlazeSnap never sees card numbers.

A credit is used only when a match completes successfully and returns candidate glazes. Failed runs, cached or reopened results, and zero-candidate results never use a credit.

Refunds

Unused credits are refunded on request — email opensourcewarren@gmail.com and the unspent portion of your purchase goes back to your original payment method through Stripe. Credits already spent on completed analyses are final, because the analysis cost was incurred when it ran. The free signup credit has no cash value.

Accounts and deletion

Sign-in is passwordless, by email link. You can delete your account on the Account page; deletion removes your photographs, your matches, and the account itself. Anonymized credit-ledger records are retained for financial audit. See the privacy page for details on data handling.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the catalog or the service, upload abusive or unlawful content, or attempt to disrupt or misuse the service.

Suspension and termination

GlazeSnap may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms — in particular the acceptable-use rules. If your account is closed by us for any reason other than abuse, your unused purchased credits are refunded. You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time; the refund policy above still applies to unused purchased credits.

No warranties

GlazeSnap is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose. It is a beta: the catalog is deliberately small, analyses can be wrong, and the service may be interrupted or changed. Nothing here overrides consumer rights that your local law does not allow to be waived.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GlazeSnap is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost work, wasted materials, or a firing that doesn't turn out the way you hoped. Glaze outcomes depend on your clay, application, kiln, and firing; a match result is a suggestion to test, and the decision to use any glaze on any piece is yours.

For everything else, GlazeSnap's total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If something goes wrong, email us first — almost everything at this scale is fixable with a refund or a correction. Disputes that can't be resolved that way belong to the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and both sides consent to that venue.

Changes to these terms

GlazeSnap is a Founding Beta, and these terms will change as the product does. The current version always lives on this page, with the date above; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
